R&B Singer Ne-Yo Defends His Polyamorous Relationship
R&B singer Ne-Yo is making headlines as he openly defends his polyamorous relationship. The singer-songwriter sat down recently on Real 92.3 LA, speaking candidly about his relationship with his four girlfriends. The father of 7 explained the relationship dynamic between himself and his harem of women is not just based upon s*x.
He also revealed that the group of women has a connection with everyone in his family, including the 7 children he had before his poly relationship; none of his current girlfriends has borne any children for him just yet.
The ‘So Sick’ song-writer clarified he viewed his poly relationship with his group of girlfriends as a ‘partnership’. Many people on the web became intrigued by his lifestyle after video footage of the singer kissing his girlfriend simultaneously at his concert backstage went viral on Valentine’s Day.
Ne-Yo further elaborated that he views his relationship as a community for both himself and his kids.
“I do partnership, not ownership,” he explained. “I don’t even want to own you. I want a partner in this situation. I don’t demand exclusivity or ask for it, nothing like that. If you offer it and I accept [then] there are rules to follow, but nothing is above a conversation as long as we’re being honest.”
He continues, “See, people get caught up on the sexual element of it. If the only reason you’re doing it is for the sexual part if it, you’re bound to fail.” He clarified, his poly situation is a “community.”
Lastly, he clarifies the woman’s role with his children, “Me being as busy as I am, I’m rarely home — and God bless my kids for them being understanding — but if you want your [Roblox] and your V-bucks and them Jordans, daddy gotta go to work. And while daddy’s at work, this one’s gonna cook dinner and this one is gonna make breakfast, and this one’s gonna get you ready for school…”
The host interjects his statement asking if his lifestyle confuses his kids, he quickly answered, “No.”
He states, “Kids understand what you explain [to them]. If I make it confusing, then it’s confusing. My kids understand that they are loved and that they are cared for and that is what matters to me.”
After the interview the performer made a post with photos introducing his four girlfriends celebrating his relationship on social media.
He wrote, “Since the world is so intrigued, I guess I should introduce my loves properly. LADIES AND GENTS I PRESENT MY PYRAMID.”
He then tagged each lady in the caption.
