Beyoncé Launches SirDavis Whiskey In Honor Of Her Great Grandfather
The Cowboy Carter era continues — and Beyoncé has the perfect accompaniment for your listening experience. Today (August 20) the “Texas Hold ‘Em” hitmaker unveiled SirDavis, a new whisky which arrives as part of a partnership with Moët Hennessy.
SirDavis is inspired by Beyoncé great-grandfather Davis Hogue, a farmer and a moonshiner in the American South during the Prohibition era. During this time period, the whiskey’s namesake would hide bottles of whiskey in trees for the enjoyment of friends and kin.

On SirDavis’ official website, Beyoncé wrote an open letter dedicated to Hogue.
“I feel you in the heat of the landscapes,” Beyoncé wrote. “Your laughter rolling in the rye. What songs did you sing? What gaps did you fill? Great grandfather, did you dream of me? Your legacy is a force that drives me. Together, let us pour it, toast to this beat, and usher your craft into the future. For you, I raise my glass to legacy. We ride the movement. We savor the moment.”

The Special Ingredients For A Great Taste
SirDavis is composed of rye, barley, various spice, and hints of fruit, and finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The whiskey contains 44% ABV and is crafted in partnership with five-time International Whisky Competition Master Distiller of the Year, Dr. Bill Lumsden.

“I’ve always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whisky and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling,” said Beyoncé in a statement. “When I discovered that my great-grandfather had been a moonshine man, it felt like my love for whisky was fated. SirDavis is a way for me to pay homage to him, uniting us through a new shared legacy. In partnering with Moët Hennessy, we have crafted a delicious American whisky that respects tradition but also empowers people to experience something new and unique in the category. You can taste it better than I could ever tell you — welcome, SirDavis.”
SirDavis is available for pre-order online, starting at $89. The product will be on shelves beginning in September, and sold at LAX, JFK, and SFO airports. International fans will also be able to purchase SirDavis in London, Paris, and Tokyo.
