Man Confronts Cashier About Unfavorable Comments:

A customer’s video is going viral after recording himself confronting a Family Dollar employee in Houston, Texas, for allegedly holding a racist conversation about Black people in Spanish with another shopper as he was in line.  In the clip, the Black man identified as Chico Deon tells the cashier, “Let me give you a word of advice, man, you got to watch what you say when you say it,” as the Hispanic female worker replies in shock,” I wasn’t even saying it like that.”

The man continues, “This what I’m saying: you don’t know who speaks Spanish.” He says, “When you talk about people, especially Black people.” He then scolds her in Spanish as she calls for a co-worker, asking him not to record her.  Deon informs her he was not recording her with the camera phone facing him, eventually redirecting the camera in her direction. “I’m recording you now,” he yells. He finishes the conversation, warning her about her dialogue in English and Spanish again.

He would later post another video informing viewers that since the viral incident, the Family Dollar corporate office reached out and told him they would handle the problem.  Deon then explained the details that led to the heated verbal exchange with the unknown female employee. Deon explained his intention was not to get her fired, further elaborating he intended to ‘wake her up’ about having specific conversations in public. He alleges at the store, a Hispanic woman who stood ahead of him in line asked the employee about the location of a particular pair of shoes. The employee allegedly made claims, speaking in Spanish, that the shoes were placed behind the counter because the “Black people be stealing.”  Her words triggered him to condemn her for her alleged statements. Lastly, he shared the store location on his social media also confirming the woman had been terminated. Watch the video of the encounter below.
