Jake Paul Beats Mike Tyson In Boxing Match

Boxing legend Mike Tyson, 58, suffered a stunning loss during his boxing match against boxer and YouTuber Jake Paul. During their 8-round battle at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Tyson’s age showed vividly, with the former champ struggling through each round. The most impressive part is that Tyson maintained his momentum and avoided being knocked out by Jake Paul, as he previously threatened during his pre-match interview.  Tyson gave his best efforts swinging in the first round, appearing to have won.  However, his energy would dwindle as each round passed. Jake Paul, 27, was too fast for Tyson, as expected, seeing the large age gap between the two.

Tyson bit down on his glove to maintain as Paul repeatedly punched him. It was noticeable that Tyson’s legs were very stiff, appearing to have some form of injury. Tyson mostly stood flat-footed in the ring, not moving as swiftly as his younger glory years. Tyson would gracefully bow out at the end of the 8th and final round. The judges unanimously agreed that Paul had secured the victory over Tyson. The biggest thing we must highlight is Tyson is now 58. One can be sure that, had Paul fought Mike Tyson in his prime, he would have miserably lost being K.O., in my opinion.

Will Mike Tyson Be Retiring?

Both men embraced and shook hands at the end of the match, with Paul giving Tyson his flowers, speaking highly of the boxing legend. Tyson seemed unfazed by the loss. It was a moment when Tyson passed the torch to Paul, confirming Paul was an excellent boxer.  A reporter asked Tyson if this would be his final match at 58, and Tyson said no to the idea of retiring, clarifying he’s open to the possibility of boxing again.

What Went Wrong For Mike Tyson

I believe Tyson’s loss was attributed to aging; it’s as simple as that. This match was unequally yolked; from the beginning, Tyson was not in the ring for a game in nearly 4 years. Also, he had not been actively boxing in about 19 years. Let’s highlight the 30-plus years of wear and tear Tyson’s body has endured as a champion heavyweight boxer his whole career. Jake Paul, on the other hand, had time on his side. Paul is 27 years old, in the prime of his career, fighting Tyson, age 58, 31 years his senior. Let me reiterate: if Tyson was in his prime, he would have K.O. Paul in the first round based on Jake Paul’s current abilities. Tyson is still the better boxer, in my opinion.

Why He Do It?

We will never know why Mike Tyson stepped back into the ring at his age. However, we can speculate it was purely out of his love for the game of boxing alone. To mention, allegedly, both boxers walked away with large financial profits, with rumors circulating each ranked in $20 million to $40 million a piece for holding this event, which aired on Netflix.
