According to Deadline Starz has decided to cancel their highly successful Power series spin off; Power Book II: Ghost, after the completion of its fourth season. This is shocking news to Power fans as many were anticipating the latest season. The series created by rap mogul 50 Cent has made quite the impact. Being one of his top rated spin offs associated with his Power series. What’s even more shocking according to Power Book II star Michael Rainey Jr, he allegedly learned of the shows cancellations at the same time viewers did on social media. The star revealed this information while on IG live. Rainey stated, he didn’t know anything about the cancellation until it was announced to the public. He also blamed the higher ups for the ending of the series.

Here’s The Reason Behind Power Book II Series Cancellation

Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsh clarified the decision to cancel the Power Book II series was due to production cost. Revealing plans to contain content costs by creating more new shows instead of maintaining a prolonged series.

He said, “You look at the [Power] map and say, ‘OK, if I take one of those characters out and spin one of those out, I can bring that on to replace the Power show at half the cost.’ Now I’m putting a lot of money right to the bottom line. I’m really not losing anything in terms of acquisition costs and subscriber viewership, because we know what those demos want. And we know how to line those up. So that’s really the core of getting to that 20% [margin] — turning that slate over with fresh content to drive the business.”

Starz Announces New Series For The ‘Power’ Universe Franchise

Additionally, in an interesting turn of events 50 Cent and Starz announced they’ve created a prequel series for ‘Power.’ This series will explore the backstory of the fictional besties, James’ Ghost’ St. Patrick and Thomas ‘Tommy’ Egan, portrayed by actors Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora. 50 cent made the announcement on his Instagram account.

POWER BOOK II FINAL SEASON AIRING DATE
