Diddy: Accused Of Using Social Media To Influence Jurors

The government is asking a judge not to grant music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’—third request for bail in which the mogul offered a $50 million bail package citing new evidence and changed circumstances. The Bad Boy founder was arrested in September on multiple charges, including human trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. He’s since been housed at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and is awaiting trial next year. Things took a turn for the worse for the mogul earlier this year after the FBI raided his homes in both Los Angeles and Miami under suspicion. At that time, the feds revealed their belief he was allegedly running a criminal organization, including trafficking. It was later confirmed by the US Attorney in the Southern District of New York upon Combs’ apprehension in New York City that these were one of the many charges filed against him.

Caught On Tape

Eventually, Combs would later be exposed on video surveillance footage attacking his ex-girlfriend, singer-model Cassie Ventura, in 2016. This footage came out months after she filed a $30 million lawsuit against Diddy, claiming accusations of a hostile work environment, physical and emotional abuse, drugging, and coercion. Allegations the disgraced mogul denied publicly. He would then admit to attacking her after CNN released the video footage of him physically assaulting Ventura at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016.

Fast forward to September 2024, Combs was arrested in a hotel in NYC and taken into federal custody. He’s since vigorously sought bail, offering both judges presiding over his case $50 million, the value of his home to be released—an offer they denied twice. Ultimately, the judges expressed that the denial was due to phone records showing he allegedly contacted potential witnesses to bribe and intimidate them before his arrest.

Posting To Social Media To Sway Jurors?

Furthermore, he is being accused again of attempting to tamper with his case by the government. Prosecutors are pointing to his recorded phone calls from jail. They allege Combs asked family members to reach out to potential victims and witnesses, urging them to create narratives to influence a jury pool. They accused him of encouraging marketing strategies to sway public opinion. Allegations that could land Combs in more trouble.

Lastly, prosecutors allege in their statements Diddy “enlisted family members to plan and carry out a social media campaign around his birthday “with the intention of influencing the potential jury in this criminal proceeding,”AP News states. Also, the Associated Press said he encouraged his children to post a video on their social media accounts showing them gathering to celebrate his birthday. Prosecutors allege that he subsequently studied the analytics in jail, advising his family on how to make the video influential enough to sway potential jurors for his trial. Combs bail hearing is next week. Combs maintains he is innocent throughout his troubles, pleading not guilty on all charges.
