Drake Claims Defamation For Not Like Us:

Drake has allegedly filed a second legal action against Universal Music Group (UMG), accusing the company of defamation and claiming it allowed the release of Kendrick Lamar’s song “Not Like Us” despite it allegedly making false accusations against him. According to Billboard, The new filing in Texas follows an earlier New York case where Drake’s team accused UMG of manipulating Spotify to boost the song’s popularity.

Claims Kendrick Lamar & UMG Hurt Reputation:

Drake alleges UMG knew the song falsely portrayed him as a “certified pedophile” and “predator” but chose to promote it aggressively, including through alleged pay-to-play deals with iHeartRadio. His lawyers claim this strategy aimed to generate massive revenue at his expense, turning the controversy into a viral sensation.
The filing seeks depositions from UMG and iHeart executives to gather evidence for potential future lawsuits, which could include defamation, civil fraud, and racketeering claims. UMG denied the allegations, calling them “offensive and untrue” and asserting its ethical practices in promoting music. Kendrick Lamar is not named in the filing or accused of wrongdoing.
This legal battle intensifies the feud between Drake and Lamar, who have traded diss tracks in the past, and highlights growing tensions between Drake and his longtime label, UMG.
