Jeremy Hecht Defends Kendrick Accused Of Milking Drake Beef
Hip Hop DX contributor Jeremy Hecht addresses critics who believe Kendrick Lamar is exploiting his highly publicized beef with Drake after releasing the music video for his diss track ‘Not Like Us’.
In his IG video, Hecht exclaimed, “Is Kendrick milking the win of this beef?”. He continues,” I have heard a lot of people online and in discourse saying it’s too much. We got the concert. We got the music video. When is it going to end? He’s overdoing it. And to those people, I will ask them a simple question: Does anyone remember when Drake and Meek Mill were battling?”

Highlights Drake’s Behavior During Meek Mill Battle!
Hecht went into details surrounding Drake and Meek Mill’s battle. He explained it was clear Drake was victorious in that battle while simultaneously highlighting the OVO artist allegedly taunting Meek Mill at his festival upon his win. “We all know that Drake clearly got the win. But does anyone remember when at OVO Fest, he put Meek Mill on the screen and, did back-to-back twice and had all of the memes making fun of Meek on screen?” The significance of Hetch discussing Drake’s actions is that many fans stated Kendrick Lamar performing ‘Not Like Us’ multiple times during his Kendrick and Friends concert last month was overkill.
He further elaborates, calling attention to Drake creating a mixtape seemingly underlining his dispute with Meek Mills. He states, “And then when he made an entire mixtape with Future, basically referencing the beef? The first thing you hear Drake say on this project is, ‘I don’t forget or forgive.’ Told myself never again.I don’t let nobody in. Referencing the beef.”
He Name Drops Albums!
Jeremy Hecht continues his conversation, highlighting the series of songs and albums Drake allegedly expressed his disdain for Mills over the years after their initial feud. “Does anyone remember this song, Summer ’16, which happened months later, where he said, ‘I let the diss record drop’? You was staying right below me, basically referring to playing the diss song in a hotel room while Meek was right there. So they had to listen to it,” he says.

Hecht also points out Drake allegedly milked his battle with Meek Mills on a series of albums, specifically, More Life, Views, & Scorpion. He expounded upon the topic, “Then there was this album where we had Drake referencing the beef again. You tried to give them your side of the story. They heard it, but they wasn’t hearing it. And then we had this project where Drake references the beef again. I tried to serve me up a cheesesteak. I gave him back a clean plate. And then he never referenced the battle again. Oh, wait, then there’s the first song on this album. I’ve had real Philly dudes try to write my ending.”
Jeremy Hecht Tired Of ‘Not Like Us”?
He concluded his argument, admitting, “And I loved it the whole time. And so did you. We all loved hearing Drake reflect on the biggest battle of his career at that point. And we loved the music. We loved the music that we got from it. So please keep the hypocrisy to the side when you’re talking about Kendrick Lamar overdoing it when it’s literally been two months since the start of this battle. Maybe a little more than two months. But all that being said, I am kind of tired of the song. I think the video was perfect. I think it was incredible. It ended the battle, in my opinion. But I have heard it play a million times in LA. So I’m kind of over it.”
Fans Reactions
Many viewers seemingly agreed with Jeremy Hecht’s views, with several users commenting on the subject. One user states, “He’s doing what he should be doing. He dropped his songs with ZERO social media presence. Did ONE concert and then ONE video, and yet he’s doing “too much”? Go away. Get off the internet and if you’re so “over it” then stop commenting and engaging in anything that has to do with Kendrick and you won’t see it in your timeline. The rest of us, though?”
Another user expressed,” Kendrick is not doing to much! And I grew up on Pac. He would be proud if K-Dot”.
