Several writing staff members at SNL are allegedly boycotting over Dave Chappelle being scheduled to host Saturday Night Live this weekend.
According to reports via Page Six several SNL staffers are upset the comedian was selected to host SNL, after his jokes regarding the transgender and lgbt community. Several members of SNL’s writing staff are furious marking Chappelle as homophobic and transphobic due to his statements.
“They’re not going to do the show,” an insider told
Page Six. “But none of the actors are boycotting.
Despite the alleged backlash Dave Chappelle is still currently booked to host SNL’s November 12th episode Saturday.
Also Dave Chappelle team has denied all rumors of a writers boycott. His rep spoke out to Page Six stating, “there was nothing to suggest that there was a boycott when they attended writers’ meetings this week”.
They claim Chappelle showed up for a writers meeting Tuesday and the room was filled with staffers on hand ready to work according to his rep.
We’re not quite sure how many people are boycotting, but it clearly isn’t many as it seems the show will still go on.
