MC Serch, well known as a member of the pioneering rap group 3rd Bass and record executive, is reportedly selling off his portion of Nas’ catalog that he owns. The catalog in which he has owned for 27 years includes Nas’ classic 90s albums Illmatic and It Was Written. Mc Serch was the executive producer of both albums.

He confirmed rumors of the deal making the announcement via AllHipHop. “I have decided to sell all of the rights, including the global rights. I started the conversations with several companies a few months ago. For 27 years, it has provided my family through good times and bad. Now it’s time for a new chapter,”he said.

The deal will be completed any day now. Both albums had great success on Billboard 200 charts; as Illmatic reached No.12, while It Was Written peaked at No. 1 respectively.
