A 36 year old man was arrested for attempting to vandalize the iconic Mona Lisa painting at the Louvre in Paris. According to the Associated Press, France authorities confirmed they arrested a man that smeared cake across the glass protecting the Mona Lisa. The aftermath of the attack shows the iconic painting with what appears to be cake smeared across it. However, the cake was actually on the outside of the glass protecting it.
The suspected culprit was caught on camera disguised as an old women during the vandalism attempt. He’s later seen on video yelling at onlookers as cops escorted him out the building. The French authorities have yet to release his name to the public.
According to translation tools used by Associate Press they claim the alleged culprit stated “Think of the Earth! There are people who are destroying the Earth!” he said in the video, “Think about it. Artists tell you: think of the Earth. That’s why I did this.”
