A mass shooting at an Texas elementary school has left 16 people dead. Sources are reporting that of the 16 dead 14 were children. This horrific event occurred at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Authorities states the shooting suspect was an 18 year old male who later also died.
CBS news previously reported only 2 victims were shot one being a 66 year old women critically injured. The death toll immediately jumped as 13 more victims were rushed to Uvalde Memorial Hospital with gun shot wounds.
The Daily Beast reports “ The assailant abandoned his vehicle and entered into the school with a handgun and possibly a rifle, Abbott said. “He shot and killed, horrifically and incomprehensibly, 14 students and killed a teacher,” Texas Gov Greg Abbott said.
Also according to the Daily Beast reports “School officials initially said a shooting happened off-campus but the assailant then ran onto school grounds and barricaded himself, forcing students to evacuate. Uvalde Police said about an hour later that he had been taken into custody.”
ABC News has reported the suspect shot and murdered his grandmother before driving to the elementary school and opening fire.
