According to reports legendary New York City DJ and graffiti writer DJ Kay Slay has passed away after a 4 month battle with COVID19. This unfortunate news was announced via Wack 100 on his Instagram with hip hop promoter Van Silk, and various news outlets confirming the reports.

DJ Kay Slay passed on April 17, 2022 (Easter Day) aged 55. His last post to social media was back in January 2022 announcing the release of his new music video ‘In My Soul’ featuring Papoose, AZ, Mysonne, and Tre Williams. This was shortly after his COVID19 diagnoses was reported in December 2021, with rumors swirling the DJ was severely ill in the hospital.

DJ Kay Slay was born August 14, 1966 he began his career in hip hop as a well known graffiti artist. His popularity grew further after he was featured in the hip hop documentary, Style Wars.

Dj Kay Slay began DJing after witnessing legendary disc jockeys such Grandmaster Flash and Kool DJ Red Alert perform sets in New York City during the 70s & 80s. His legendary hip hop career stretched nearly 40 years until his untimely passing. DJ Kay Slay remained consistently active hosting on NYC radio stations Hot97 and Shade 45 until he fell ill.
