The long wait for Aaliyah music on streaming platforms is now over. As of midnight August 20 Blackground 2.0 and Empire records has re-released Aaliyah ‘One in a Million’ album to Apple Music, Spotify & more, five days prior to the 20th anniversary of Aaliyah’s fatal plane crash in 2001.

‘One in A Million’ which is the second album by Aaliyah was originally released August 27th, 1996 and includes production by a young Timbaland and Missy Elliot. The album had several hit singles including the title song One in a Million, Hot Like Fire, 4 Page Letter, If Your Girl Only Knew & more.

This album made Aaliyah a household name, and included contributions and collaboration from Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Slick Rick, Jermaine Dupri, Rodney Jerkins, Diane Warren, and more. The album debuted at No. 20 on the billboard 100 charts becoming the catalyst for Aaliyah’s career .

Fans have been eager for this moment. In the coming months Aaliyah’s entire music catalog will also be available in the following order,Sept. 3, the Romeo Must Die soundtrack will arrive, followed by Aaliyah’s third self-titled album on Sept. 10. Two Aaliyah compilations, I Care 4 U and Ultimate Aaliyah, will be released on Oct. 8.

Barry Hankerson, the uncle of Aaliyah and Blackground Records founder informed fans there’s also a posthumous Aaliyah album in the works. This album will include features from Timbaland, Chris Brown, Snoop Dogg and more.

Blackground Records now renamed Blackground 2.0 is in a distribution deal with Empire to release Aaliyah’s full catalog and upcoming project.
